6. How to configure Outlook Express to use IMAP for Telus home account users?

IMAP is a method of accessing electronic mail on a mail server. IMAP offers several advantages over POP3 - including the ability to manage email in folders on and off the email server.

Note: if you have a firewall, port 143 must be open.

  1. Select 'Accounts...' from Outlook Express menu bar.

  2. Click 'Add' -> 'Mail' on 'Internet Accounts' screen.

  3. Enter a display name and click 'Next.'

  4. Enter a Email address and click 'Next.'

  5. Set IMAP Server and SMTP Server, then click 'Next.'

  6. Enter Email Address and password, then click 'Next.'

  7. Click 'Finish.'

  8. Double Click on the Email account on 'Internet Accounts' screen.

  9. Check 'Outgoin Mail Server's 'My server requires authentication' on 'Servers' tab, then click 'Settings...'

  10. Check 'Log on using' if it is not checked, then put your telus account name and password, not ours, then click 'OK.'

  11. Click 'OK.'

  12. Click 'Close.'
